I am the former Principal
Violist with the Dallas Symphony, the Houston Symphony and the
Grant Park Symphony. As such I know excellent music making !!!
The Mahler 2nd (Symphony) with the NSS last November not only was
fantastic but brought tears to my eyes.
I recently went to 2 concerts by the Florida Sym and 1 by the
Toledo Sym, both have regular seasons of about 40 weeks. Neither
was of the excellence of the NSS Sym in Nov.
I will be in attendence at the Feb 16th concert. I am pleased
one of my students plays in the NSS.
All my best to Kyle and the orchestra.
From an old pro....

Best
underappreciated music treasure - North State Symphony
"The North State Symphony has many fans who know quite well, thank
you, just how excellent it is, but it could always use a few more.
Formed seven years ago, when the venerable Chico Symphony merged
with the Redding Symphony, the group is led by Music Director Kyle
Wiley Pickett, who has developed it into the finest orchestra north
of San Francisco."
Winner of Chico's Annies Arts Award
North State Symphony won an Annies Arts Award for
its 2005 performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
