- Classical Symphony, op. 25 Brian Ganz, Piano NORTH STATE SYMPHONY begins its season with pianist Brian Ganz, a “fabulous musician who lives music with generous urgency and brings his public into a state of intense joy.” Ganz will join the NSS and Music Director Kyle Wiley Pickett in Brahms’ First Piano Concerto, a monument work of musical grandeur and profundity. The concert opens with a 20th Century salute to Mozart’s era, the Classical Symphony of Prokofiev, and an homage to a new-born son, Richard Wagner’s surprisingly intimate Siegfried Idyll. Resurrection - Sublime VoicesNovember 17, 2007 (7:30 PM) - Cascade Theatre, Redding Elizabeth Madsen Bradford, Mezzo Soprano Music expressing the depths of human sorrow and hope is found in Gustav Mahler’s immense and beautiful Second Symphony, as the North State Symphony joins with chorus and soloists. The symphony’s season finale begins with Debussy’s lovely Nocturnes, then opens a window to the future by featuring two brilliant student soloists, Chelsea Morden and Ayako Nakamura, winners of the 2007 Young Artists Auditions. |
