Investing in young audiences

Youth Concerts

At North State Symphony, we believe that music has the power to inspire, educate, and connect people of all ages. Each year, we bring the excitement of live symphonic music directly to students through engaging youth concerts and school performances.

These interactive experiences introduce young audiences to classical music, often featuring lively narration and opportunities for students to ask questions and connect with musicians. This is an excellent way to introduce students to the world of classical music and foster a deeper connection to the arts. Schools and educators, please feel free to contact our box office at 530-898-6333 or email [email address] to arrange field trip opportunities to our youth concerts.

Mentorship in Action

Side-by-Side Concerts

Through our Side-by-Side concerts, we provide young musicians with a unique opportunity to perform alongside the North State Symphony. In collaboration with local youth music organizations, these concerts promote artistic development and offer valuable networking opportunities with seasoned musicians.

As youth and professional musicians share the stage, they deepen their understanding of teamwork, discipline, and musical expression. Help inspire the next generation of classical musicians, make a donation today.

Celebrating Young Talent

Young Artist Auditions

Our annual Young Artist Auditions highlight the extraordinary talent of emerging musicians in the North State. In collaboration with the Redding League and the Chico Guild, these auditions provide a platform for young musicians to showcase their abilities and gain support from key community organizations.

Winners are awarded a cash prize and have the unique opportunity to perform as soloists with the symphony, giving them valuable performance experience and recognition as they advance in their musical careers.

Where music meets community

Symphony On-Location

Our musicians take the heart of the symphony beyond the concert hall, sharing the power of live music with local schools and retirement homes. These intimate performances create unforgettable experiences, fostering a deeper connection to the arts and bringing joy, inspiration, and a sense of community to all.

These visits include lively performances, meaningful conversations, and opportunities for students and residents to engage with the musicians and learn more about the music they love. Shaping the music together

With baton in hand, participants have the opportunity to lead the musicians and experience the thrill of shaping a live performance. This fun, interactive event brings music into the heart of the community, allowing people to connect with the symphony in a whole new way.  To learn more, contact our Education, Outreach & Development Coordinator, at 530-898-4402 or ssonoquie@csuchico.edu.
